Murder

An occupant of a mid-town residential hotel was charged with murdering a fellow tenant with whom he had been feuding. The tenant died from stab wounds inflicted during a fight that was recorded on audio tape during a 911 call. Outcome: Our client was acquitted on all counts. Doar Law persuaded the jury that the defendant acted in self-defense.

Larceny and Drug Offenses

Our client, a medical professional, was investigated for grand larceny and prescription drug misconduct. Doar Law's investigation and interaction with the District Attorney prevented the client from being charged.

Drug Offenses

A prominent defendant was arrested in his limousine with two others and charged with the possession of a large marijuana cigarette. Outcome: The case was dismissed because Doar Law’s thoroughness led to the discovery of mistakes in the indictment.

There was a major seizure of drugs and drug paraphernalia with accompanying arrests. The defendant could have been sentenced to a minimum of 10 years in prison under the Federal Sentencing rules. Doar Law’s thorough investigative work and negotiations with federal prosecutors resulted in the defendant pleading guilty to a minor non-drug charge, making incarceration unlikely.

A client was arrested for the possession of marijuana and a false ID. After Doar Law’s investigation and negotiation with the District Attorney, no charges were filed.

A woman was living with a man who stored eight kilograms of heroin and $70,000 cash in their apartment. The DEA seized the drugs and money. The woman was indicted along with nine others for conspiracy to traffic in narcotics. Acting on behalf of the woman, Doar Law negotiated a solution with prosecutors that did not involve the woman testifying against others. Outcome: The woman pled guilty to Misprision of a Felony, which has a maximum sentence of three years as compared to drug trafficking which has a minimum sentence of ten years with no parole.

White Collar Crimes

An associate General Counsel was indicted for criminal tax shelter fraud. After the extensive filing of motions by Doar Law, all charges were dismissed.

A defendant faced a ten-year sentence for mortgage fraud. After Doar Law’s investigative work provided substantial mitigating evidence, the sentence was reduced.

A corporate treasurer was investigated for violating laws dealing with defense contractors. Doar Law’s extensive negotiations with federal prosecutors resulted in no charges being filed.

Health care professionals were investigated for bid rigging and commercial bribery. After Doar Law investigated and provided explanations to the District Attorney, no charges were brought.

A client was caught up in a significant hazardous waste dumping investigation and prosecution. After investigation and negotiations with the District Attorney by Doar Law, no charges were filed.

A major “boiler room” securities investigation produced extensive evidence in favor of the prosecution. Doar Law’s investigation and negotiations with the prosecutor led to a favorable plea bargain that resulted in a five-month sentence.
